Born and raised in Kuwait, Omar Al Dakheel moved to the US at 17 after receiving a scholarship to the University of Miami to study Broadcast Journalism, followed by an MFA in TV and Film production at USC.
Omar directed and produced "Jihad in Hollywood", featuring Werner Herzog, which is now on Al Jazeera and Kanopy. He also directed "al imam", featuring one of the world's few female imams, which is now on National Geographic, PBS and Vimeo Staff Pick. His short fiction film "Ablution" has screened at over 70 film festivals including Outfest where he is now selected as a notable writer for the Feature Screenwriting Lab in partnership with Netflix. He is also a 2021 Netflix Nonfiction Directing & Producing Fellow.
Omar is currently directing & producing his documentary "Everybody's Watching" in collaboration with Hulu & Field of Vision. Based in LA, Omar aims to tell diverse stories that can bridge the gap between east and west.
